Happy Movement, Happy Skin — References & Further Reading

Note on references

Many NHS sources focus on exercise in relation to overall health and wellbeing, but they do not always make a direct link to skin health. Where available, I’ve included dermatology-specific references that highlight the connection between activity, daily habits, and skin. This helps show both what is already known — and what is still missing — from UK public health guidance.

The biological link is well recognised: regular physical activity can reduce stress hormones, improve circulation, and lower systemic inflammation. These effects can help support skin barrier function and reduce flare-ups in inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis. While much of the advice is framed for those living with specific health issues, the principles apply more broadly: if a habit benefits one group, it is likely to support skin health for everyone.

Because everyone has skin. Happy Movement, Happy Skin.

Daily Habits for Healthier Skin:

1. Go Bare-Faced

NHSAcne: Cleanse with a mild soap or cleanser twice a day to help prevent blocked pores. Advice often given for acne, but the principle applies before activity if wearing make-up.
