Welcome to The Skin Well™ Open Letters

Thoughtful messages to policymakers, regulators, and those shaping the future of skin health.

Open Letters

Not written to criticise. Not written to campaign.
These letters are written to ask calm, necessary questions—often on behalf of those without the time, access, or platform to ask them themselves.

The Skin Well™ began as a way to help clients understand how lifestyle and environment affect the skin. Along the way, it became clear: there’s no national skin health guidance—unless you already have a diagnosed condition. Not in training. Not in education. Not in policy.

These letters quietly point to that gap.
No pressure. No expectations. Just an invitation to reflect.

Open Letter 1

To Those Overseeing Public Health and Education
Who’s Guiding Skin Health in Beauty Training?
An open question about where national skin health guidance begins—and why it doesn’t yet shape beauty therapy education.

Open Letter 2

To the UK Government
Have We Privatised Skin?
If skin is a vital organ, why is there no national check-up, no public care plan, no prevention strategy? This letter quietly asks: if we didn’t mean to hand skin over to the private sector—then isn’t it time we brought it back?

Open Letter 3

To Those Leading Environmental Health Alerts
A Quiet Call for Skin & Environmental Alerts
As the UK rolls out real-time UV and air quality alerts, this letter asks one simple thing: will they speak to the skin?

Open Letter 4

To Save Face and the JCCP
When Skin Therapists Are Left Out
What happens when those working with the skin every day are excluded from oversight—but still expected to deliver care? This letter invites reflection on the message that exclusion sends.

Open Letter 5

To the Department of Health and Social Care
A Quiet Call to Include Skin in Public Health
Skin is health. This letter asks whether the Department of Health and Social Care is ready to support it that way—from public messaging to professional guidance.
