Section Two: Balance

About Balance

Balance is the second phase of The SkinChat Method®.

In Blueprint, you identified your skin’s baseline — how your skin is set up to behave on a calm, ordinary day when nothing unusual is happening.

Balance looks at everything that acts on that baseline: the environments, habits, situations, and exposures that place load on your skin and shift how noticeable different parts of it become.

What we often call stress is usually the build-up of many small, ordinary loads. These don’t change your Blueprint baseline, but they can dial its features up or down, influencing how your skin feels from day to day.

Skin balance isn’t a permanent state. It’s the point where your skin feels comfortable, steady, and less noticeable most of the time — and it naturally shifts as daily load changes. It’s the part most people are never taught. We’re usually shown how to react once skin is uncomfortable, but not how to notice what led there.

Balance teaches you to notice what your skin is signalling, place it within your Blueprint, and reflect on what might be loading it. This section doesn’t ask you to change anything. It’s about recognition, not correction.

If your skin has changed suddenly and stays that way — new flushing, burning, fragility, dryness or oiliness that’s unusual for you — and there’s no clear reason like illness, medication or a major life change, its worth speaking to your GP.
