What questions do we still need answers to before we regulate skin properly?

Each research proposal on this page explores a gap that must be better understood before safe, effective, and nationally aligned skin care systems can be put in place.

This page outlines the key areas of uncertainty that affect skin health decisions, training, safety, and public understanding.

Although this section sits under Pillar 3 (Oversight and Regulation), many of these questions must be explored before regulation can be designed well. Some issues relate to science, some to education, and others to practice — but all of them matter if we want a safer, more credible, and more accountable industry.

Each proposal includes a short paragraph on why it matters. Some may eventually be developed into full articles or case studies. For now, this page maps out what we still need to understand.

These are not calls for immediate action. They are starting points for deeper exploration, collaborative discussion, and shared progress.
